The Apple iPhone 15 series debuted in the global market in September last year. The US tech company is currently working on the new generation of iPhones,
which is expected to be launched around the same time this year. Although the launch of the iPhone 16 lineup is still months away, various reports have been surfacing for several months to give an idea of what the upcoming devices are going to look like. The higher-end iPhone 16 Pro series is rumored to launch with multiple upgrades over its predecessor models. Let's find out what improvements can be seen in some cases.
iPhone 15 Pro vs iPhone 16 Pro: What's the upgrade?
Design – While the standard model of
the iPhone 16 series is expected to come with a vertical camera placement, the
iPhone 16 Pro models seem to be similar to the iPhone 15 Pro in terms of
design. However, as a new addition, the Pro variants will feature a capture
button and may be slightly larger in terms of measurements.
Display – iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max
have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays respectively. However, the iPhone 16 Pro
and Max may have larger displays of 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches. The new models
will likely offer OLED panels with bright micro-lens technology.
Camera – The iPhone 16 Pro Max will
have a Sony IMX-903 main camera sensor, which is an improvement over the Sony
IMX-803 main camera sensor on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Also, the iPhone 16 Pro
may have a telephoto camera with a larger sensor. However, the tetraprism
design, optical image stabilization and autofocus 3D sensor shift may be the
same as its predecessor. However, the 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera of the
current generation is expected to be upgraded to a 48-megapixel ultra-wide
camera in the new model.
Performance – The iPhone 16 Pro models
are expected to feature the new Apple A18 Pro chipset, while the iPhone 15 Pro
models will be powered by the A17 Pro chip. Upcoming iPhone Pro models may
offer an advanced neural engine to support AI features. Also, it can support
Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 5G modem and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
Battery – The iPhone 15 Pro has a
3,274 mAh battery and the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a comparatively larger 4,422
mAh battery. And now, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to have a 3,355 mAh battery
and the iPhone 16 Pro will get a 4,676 mAh battery. Also, wired charging
support may increase from 25 watts to 40 watts.
Software – The iPhone 16 Pro series
will run on the iOS 18 operating system, which will support several AI (Al)
features. iPhone 16 models may feature device-exclusive AI. However, the iPhone
15 Pro series will be upgraded to iOS 18 around the same time and will also
support the new AI feature.
