Samsung today revealed the exact list of Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update for its phones. This list does not include the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series. Notably, both lineups debuted in 2020 and have already received three major software updates.
Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20
series will not get Android 14 update
Samsung has officially confirmed in
Halfil that they mistakenly included the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series
in the list of devices that will receive the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 custom
OS update. But now they have corrected this mistake and removed the said two
series from the list. As a result they are no longer getting the latest OS
updates.
According to company officials –
“Recently during the 'One UI 6 Update: Tips for Making the Most of the AI
Camera on Your Galaxy' press meet, there was a confusion regarding the list
of devices eligible to receive the latest One UI 6 update. We apologize for
that. We have corrected our mistake and removed the Galaxy S20 series, Note 20
series, Fold 2, Flip 5G and Flip LTE models from the list of eligible devices
to receive the One UI 6 update.”
Let me explain the matter a little.
This whole confusion started when Samsung revealed the list of devices that
will support their new One UI 6.0 camera feature in a blog post after the press
meet. A footnote at the bottom of the post listed several eligible devices that
will receive the new software update. Where – the older generation handsets
mentioned above including the Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20 were included.
After which there is confusion among Samsung device users. However now the
company has already corrected the mistake made by them by updating the
footnote.
It should be noted that at the time of
launch i.e. in 2020, Samsung Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series come
pre-loaded with Android 10 operating system. The company then promised that
each device in the series would receive three major OS upgrades. Similarly,
Samsung released Android 11, Android 12 and Android 13 OS updates for the
devices in the last three years. So when the news of Android 14 update comes
out, there is confusion.
Incidentally, One UI 6.0 is Samsung's latest OS. It is based on Android 14 The company rolled out the stable build of this OS for the global variant of the Galaxy S23 series, including India, in the first half of this week, which is 3GB in size.
