Volvo is the first to manufacture an all-electric vehicle in India

The promise was made earlier, this time Volvo Car India fulfilled it. Recently launched in India their first electric car XC40 Recharge rolled out of the manufacturing facility.

Volvo used to import cars manufactured earlier in this country. However, the electric version of the XC40 is manufactured across the board at the Hoskote plant near Bangalore. The car has been priced at Rs 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

By 2030, Volvo has set a target of debuting as an all-electric car manufacturer. Jyoti Malhotra, managing director of the company's Indian arm, flagged off the first model of the Volvo XC40 in the presence of plant chief Pascal Kuster. Malhotra said, “Today our first electric car rolled out of the Hoskot factory near Bangalore. I believe, we can fulfill the promise of bringing one new electric car to this country every year.”

Pascal Kuster, on the other hand, said, "With the launch of this car, the company's journey to become an all-electric company in India has begun." Volvo's internal combustion engine vehicles are also manufactured at the Hoskote plant. It is to be noted that Volvo has recently released the list of their 2023 lineup in this country. Among which petrol milled hybrid versions of XC40, S90, XC60 and flagship model XC90 are present.

As for the Volvo XC40 Recharge, it features a 78 kWh lithium-ion battery. Which will help the car to get a range of more than 400 km on a single charge. Although in reality it is known that 335 km will run on a full charge. It takes 5 seconds to accelerate from 0-100 km/h. The Volvo XC40 Recharge gets 408 hp and 660 Nm of torque from its dual motors. The maximum speed is 180 km/h. It supports 150 kW DC fast charging. 10-80% battery charge in just 33 minutes.
